Report from the Grand Council: July, 2001
To the Directors, Greetings.
Items Requiring Board Action
On June 25, the Council submitted a draft of the Sanctions proposal, revised to conform to the current structure of the governing documents, for consideration and action by the Board.
Status Report
The Council has submitted a draft of the Sanctions proposal, revised to conform to the current structure of the governing documents.
The Council is still reviewing methods for providing better feedback to the Board, but does not have any formal recommendation at this time. Peter Volk (Peter the Uncertain) has been organizing the discussion. The committee collectively created a list of all conceivable methods of organizing and requesting feedback to the Board. He has been diligently working through each of those methods, writing and modifying each section in response to discussions with the balance of the committee.
The Council is also considering a proposed revision of the Society Electronic Communication Policy being drafted by the Chairman. (http://www.schuldy.org/revisedecp.html)
As always, we would welcome comments from any or all of the directors on the issues we are discussing.
Also, there is a nominating committee, under the care of Lady Simone, which had almost finished collecting resumes and applications to fill vacancies on the committee, and will begin the selection process shortly, to be done by August 1. All Kingdoms that are lacking appointees have been contacted, although none have replied.
Effective this report, I will be replaced as secretary by Todd Perkins (Dafydd ap Owain). The completion of what I hope is the final revision of the Sanction Proposal seemed like a particularly apt point to end my four years of service as secretary.
Commendation
"The Chairman of the Grand Council, acting for its members, really must thank the retiring Secretary of the Council, Master Galleron de Cressy/Will McLean. He as, for many years, diligently written proposals, tracked deadlines, and added immeasurably to the quality and pleasure of serving on the Council. I am very pleased that he is remaining on the committee, and admire his service."
