Report from the Grand Council: July, 1998

To the Directors, Greetings.

During the last quarter, we've elected a new chair and deputy chair, and nine new at-large members. Other than that, in the absence of specific requests from the Board, there has not been a lot of systematic discussion as the summer draws on.

Items Requiring Board Action

The Council would appreciate any specific suggestions, requests, or concerns the Board has with respect to the remainder of the Council's recent sanction and banishment proposal. While we will be happy to work on the proposal further, we're reluctant to invest a great deal of effort before hearing more from the Board.

Detailed Status Report

Mark Schuldenfrei was elected Chairman, and Jonathan L. Ibarra was chosen to serve as Deputy Chairman. Mark Schuldenfrei considers his current position to be acting chairman, pending your approval.

The following new at-large members were elected to the Council:

In addition to those members that chose not to serve another term, two inactive members were asked if they wished to continue, failed to respond, and were removed from the roster.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Chairman, E. F. Morrill, for his service to the Council, as well as the outgoing members, particularly Steven Muhlberger, former chair, and Pat McGregor, who acted as chair for the nominating committee.

Summary

The Council reports that it has elected Mark Schuldenfrei Chairman, and Jonathan L. Ibarra as Deputy Chairman. Nine new at-large members were elected to the Council. The Council is awaiting specific comments or requests from the Board on how it would like the Council to proceed on the remainder of its recent banishment proposal.
